Cosmetic Chemist Needed — Hair Mask Emulsion Optimization
I’m looking for an experienced cosmetic formulation chemist to optimize an existing hair mask formula and deliver a production-ready document I can use in a kitchen setting and hand directly to a co-manufacturer.
THE PROJECT
I have a developed Matcha + Caffeine + Keratin Hair Mask formula (V3) with a solid ingredient stack. The emulsification process has broken in multiple test batches. I need a chemist to:
• Review the existing formula and identify why the emulsion is breaking
• Optimize the process/formula to produce a stable, consistent emulsion
• Deliver a clean, production-ready formula document including:
• Full ingredient list with percentages (INCI-ready)
• Step-by-step production instructions suitable for kitchen and co-mfg scale
• Equipment requirements
• pH target and preservation system confirmation
EXISTING FORMULA DETAILS
• Base: BTMS-50 (6%) + Cetyl alcohol (4%) emulsifier system
• Oil phase: Jojoba oil, Squalane (~40%)
• Actives: Hydrolyzed keratin peptides (8%), Matcha powder (2%), Caffeine anhydrous (1%), Panthenol B5 (2%), Niacinamide (2%), Honey powder (3%)
• Preservative: Optiphen (1%) + Disodium EDTA (0.1%)
• Fragrance: Vanilla + Bergamot FCF (0.6% total)
• Target pH: 5.0–5.5
• Batch size: 500g
