Colored Flame Candle Development - 14/03/2026 07:39 EDT
Budget: ₹5,000 – ₹20,000 INR
Hi,
I’m working on a colored flame candle development project and I’m looking for guidance from someone with chemistry experience.
Objective:Create solid molded candles (not gel/container candles) that burn with bright visible flame colors such as red/magenta, green, and orange, 3 colour flame candle
ideally visible even in daylight.
Key constraints for the project:
Manufacturing must be simple and scalable.
No complicated synthesis or multi-step laboratory reactions.
Try to keep things at affordable price, easily available chemicals that can be sourced easily in the indian market
And Keep it low cost other online platform are selling it for 15$ for 2 candle around 75-90g each candle which includes labour cost manufacturing marketing packaging and shipping so it's around 4$ or 350₹ inr cost for 150-180 grams 2 candle.
The candle should also support fragrance oils (scented candle).
Avoid highly toxic compounds or chemicals that may create breathing hazards.
Prefer materials that could realistically pass consumer product safety approvals.
What I need help with:I’m looking for a complete working process, including:
Recommended candle body composition (exact percentages of materials).
Which wax or fuel base should be used.
Which metal salts work best for each color.
Exact salt concentration needed.
Whether the salt should be in the wick, in the fuel body, or both.
Recommended wick type and thickness.
Processing temperatures for mixing and pouring.
Any additives needed to reduce yellow masking from wax flames.
How to keep the color stable throughout the burn.
If possible, it would be extremely helpful if you could also share:
Research papers / patents
Practical demonstrations
Any video reference showing the process
The goal is to develop a commercially viable colored flame candle that is safe, affordable, and easy to manufacture.
Thanks in advance.
