Illustrator for Whimsical Australian Animals
Budget: $2 – $5 AUD
I have written 2 short stories using Australian animals to teach life lessons to children... and I am working on more. The reading age would be around 3 to 6 years old. I need full-colour illustrations that sit midway between cartoonish and realistic characters.
I have had some of these previously illustrated, however the illustrator is no longer available. Please check attached image as these are the style I like.
AI generated the finished art formats below... but I am happy to be guided by someone who has more knowledge of these things than me. I definitely want the 3 formats listed, I'm just not sure on the technical information.
The finished art will serve three formats:
• E-book: optimised RGB PNG/JPEG files that maintain legibility on small tablets
• YouTube read-aloud: layered or separate foreground/background elements to allow light parallax animation in Adobe After Effects
• Print: 8.5" × 11" CMYK, 300 dpi bleed-ready PDFs
Primary audience is children aged roughly 3-6, so compositions should stay playful and bright while leaving space for short text blocks. Each scene should also visually echo the specific moral of that page—for example, softer lighting and body language when a character learns empathy, more dynamic angles for a bravery moment.
Deliverables
1. Character sheet for each animal (front, side, key expressions)
2. Double-page spreads + front & back cover
3. Title graphics and simple end-credit card for the video version
4. Source files (PSD or Procreate) with unlocked layers
Acceptance criteria: colour consistency across formats, clear focus on the moral within every scene.
Looking forward to seeing your visual take on these Aussie friends.
