Design Five Cartoon Action Figures
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
My book introduces five distinctive heroes and I want to see them re-imagined as cartoonish action figures, each bursting with personality. I already have written descriptions for every character—their backstory, powers, costume themes, even a few signature poses—and I’ll pass those on the moment we start.
The assignment is to translate those notes into full character concept art that a toy manufacturer can use without second-guessing. Every figure needs a detailed costume and at least one memorable facial expression that instantly conveys who they are on the shelf. A lively, Saturday-morning-cartoon feel is the target aesthetic; exaggerated proportions and bold color choices are welcome as long as they remain true to the descriptions from the book.
Deliverables
• For each of the five characters: front, side, and back turnaround in high-resolution color
• Close-up sheet highlighting facial expression(s) and costume details
• Layered source files (PSD or equivalent) plus flattened PNGs/JPGs
I’ll review each design after the rough sketch stage, provide feedback, and sign off on final line art before colors are applied. When all five are approved I’ll bundle them for the manufacturer and credit you as the concept artist.
If you love breathing life into literary worlds and you have a strong portfolio of cartoon-style character work, let’s get these heroes ready for the toy aisle.
