Whimsical Victorian Illustration

Job ID: 40512035

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

I’m looking for an artist who can draw some characters matching descriptions in the works of Charles Dickens (descriptions that I’ll summarize for you!). For each I need a digital file of a black-and-white or grayscale drawing with white background, intended to look like prints from etchings used as illustrations in nineteenth-century books. The required size is 682 pixels wide by 534 pixels tall.

Samples of some of the original artwork in nineteenth century editions of the books can be found at these URLs: https://victorianweb.org/art/illustration/furniss/10.html and https://victorianweb.org/art/illustration/mstone/5.html More can be found following the links on victorianweb.org.

Right now I just need six or seven drawings including, for instance, a business owner reading a ledger and a housecleaner who is looking over her shoulder as she slips something into the pocket of her apron.

The artist should have skill
-- to imitate the appearance of nineteenth-century etchings
-- to render Victorian dress and style
-- to create characters within given parameters
-- to draw poses and facial expressions running the gamut of Dickensian tones: serious, comic, pathetic, etc.

Many thanks!
