Whimsical Children's Book Illustrations
Budget: $600 – $1,200 USD
I'm seeking an illustrator for a children's book aimed at 6-8 year-olds. The style should be whimsical.
Requirements:
*Illustrate using my existing Tiny Farm characters-with possible age changes
*Create 1–3 new characters (Jackson and his mommy Katherine)
*Deliver high‑resolution JPG or TIFF files (300 dpi, CMYK) sized for 8.25 × 11 in full‑bleed pages
Ideal skills and experience:
*Strong illustration portfolio
*Experience with children's books
*Ability to create engaging, whimsical characters
Additional request:
I would prefer an illustrator who can also assemble the finished interior layout (text + images) into a print‑ready PDF for KDP and IngramSpark. This is a bonus, not a requirement. However, I may also need a quick review of my finished interior PDF to ensure it meets KDP and IngramSpark requirements.
The book is 75–80 pages with an alternating text/illustration layout. It might use approximately 35-40 full‑page illustrations plus a cover, along with smaller spot illustrations depending on the artist’s style. So far I have not used half page or two-page spreads in past books, but I am willing to discuss these options.
All illustrations, cover art, and final files must be delivered with full commercial rights and full ownership transferred to me upon final payment. I must be able to publish, modify, update, and reuse the artwork for future editions, award‑seal updates, ebooks, print books, and promotional materials.
Uploaded reference files show the Tiny Farm family and visual ideas for Jackson’s hair. These are provided to help guide character consistency and style. The Jackson hair ideas are not part of the family, but the story is about the young boy getting his colorful hairdo cut after he had been wearing a buzz cut, then grew it out for a couple of years.
