CATIA Plastic Household Product Design

I’m taking a new household utility product from sketch to tooling and need another set of expert hands during the full journey. The job centres on designing a multi-part plastic enclosure ready for high-volume injection moulding, and every decision must keep Design-for-Manufacturing front of mind.

Here’s the flow I have in mind:

Concept refinement & 3 D modelling
You’ll open my initial geometry in CATIA (my preferred platform) and shape each part so it locks together cleanly, carries the required loads and still looks great on a kitchen counter.

DFM & mould-readiness
Draft angles, split lines, ribs, bosses, gate locations, ejector clearance, wall-thickness transitions—everything must be validated for single-shot tooling with minimal secondary ops. I expect clear reasoning for each design call so the mould maker can quote without re-work.

Detail drawings & documentation
Once the model is frozen, we move to fully dimensioned 2 D prints, tolerance stack-ups, BOM and an exploded assembly. Native CATIA files plus neutral STEP/IGES are required.

Supplier liaison
If you’ve worked with toolmakers before, I’d value quick checks of their feedback to keep the timeline moving.

Deliverables
• CATIA V5 (or newer) part and assembly files
• STEP/IGES exports
• Draft analysis and DFM report
• Manufacturing-ready drawings (PDF + CATIA)
• Short design note explaining material choice and surface finishes

Acceptance criteria
The assembly must eject cleanly from a two-plate mould, pass draft analysis >1°, meet agreed tolerance stack and maintain functional integrity after standard drop-test simulations.
