ArcGIS ESRI Salmon Mapping Project
Introduction
ArcGIS is a family of client, server and online geographic information system (GIS) software developed and maintained by Esri. ArcGIS was first released in 1999 and originally was released as ARC/INFO, a command line based GIS system for manipulating data. ARC/INFO was later merged into ArcGIS Desktop, which was eventually superseded by ArcGIS Pro in 2015.[8] ArcGIS Pro works in 2D and 3D for cartography and visualization, and includes artificial Intelligence (AI).
Esri also provides server side ArcGIS software for web maps, known as ArcGIS Server.
The Salmon Monitoring Project
Starting in the Fall of 2017 and Winter 2018, our client launched a salmon migration monitoring program for the streams and rivers in Santa Clara Valley watershed in Northern California (better known as Silicon Valley). The group was trained on identification of Chinook Salmon REDD’s (egg nests) and on how to tag sites with GPS coordinates. All of the data created went into a database to create living maps for each Fall Chinook Salmon spawning season. The client has captured GPS locations, pictures and videos documenting the late fall-run of the Chinook salmon throughout the Guadalupe watershed with over 300 volunteer hours each year using the ArcGIS ESRI mapping software service.
The Assignment
Since the initial year, images and videos have not been displayed properly and we belive it’s a combination of user inexperience and a software bug in the ESRI software. The client doesn’t have the technical capability to apply the workaround effectively for already captured data
We need an ArcgGIS ESRI expert to complete the work for data collected in the 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 Fall runs.
