Custom Mahogany Round Doors
Budget: $3,000 – $5,000 USD
I need two solid-mahogany round doors crafted and finished, then crated and shipped to 102 Maple Hills Dr, Farmington, MO 63640. One door must measure 8 ft × 8 ft, the other 4.5 ft × 4.5 ft. Both should follow a traditional design language—think classic moulding profiles, balanced proportions, and no modern minimalist cues—and receive a deep, dark matte stain that lets the grain remain visible without a gloss halo.
I will supply all hinges, straps, clavos, and other ironwork, so please drill only the mounting points I confirm on your shop drawings. Leave the latch edge clean; I haven’t settled on the handle yet and prefer to fit it on site.
Construction expectations
• Kiln-dried, furniture-grade mahogany, 8–10 % moisture content.
• True round shape (not segmented) with stable core lamination or stave construction to control seasonal movement.
• Edges, rails, and stiles sealed on every face; final sanding to 220 grit before stain and a compatible clear topcoat.
• Jamb interface must sit flush with a 4"-thick frame—let me review your exact groove or rabbet spec before milling.
Deliverables
• 1 × 8'-diameter mahogany door, dark matte stain, traditional styling
• 1 × 4.5'-diameter mahogany door, same finish and detailing
• Scaled shop/CAD drawings for approval prior to cutting
• Progress photos after shaping and again after finishing
• Final crating ready for insured freight
