Realistic Illustrations for Children's Book – "Connie's Big Adventure"

We are seeking a talented, creative children's book illustrator to bring to life the first book in our exciting Propeller Pals series, titled "Connie's Big Adventure." This project involves illustrating a vibrant, engaging, and visually dynamic children's book for readers aged 4-8. The book follows a group of vehicle-based characters, led by Connie the Containership, on an adventure in Propeller Town, a fictional world inspired by Charleston, SC. The book will require full-page illustrations that capture the energy, teamwork, and excitement of the story in a modern animation studio style (similar to the playful, expressive designs seen in shows like Trash Truck).
Project Scope:
Total Pages: Approximately 8-10 illustrated pages, plus a cover and back cover.
Illustration Style: Modern animation studio style, with expressive, friendly, and approachable characters. The designs should be colorful, fun, and energetic, appealing to children while maintaining a professional polish.
Characters: The story centers around five main characters:
Connie the Containership: A strong, determined containership with a friendly, caring demeanor.
Heli the Coast Guard Helicopter: A helpful, dependable helicopter with a confident and protective personality.
Drifty the Drone: A zippy, quick drone who delivers crucial help in key moments.
Pete the C-17: A large, reliable airplane who provides guidance and support from the skies.
Tuggy Tug: A small but strong tugboat who assists Connie through rough waters.
Each character should have distinctive features, including expressive faces (eyes, smiles) and a sense of motion, to bring the story to life.
Setting: The illustrations should feature elements of Propeller Town, inspired by Charleston, SC. This includes iconic landmarks like the Ravenel Bridge, Rainbow Row, The USS Yorktown, and a bright, bustling harbor, including container cranes while keeping a child-friendly and stylized approach to the setting.
Deliverables:
Cover Design: A full-color cover that includes the title, "Connie's Big Adventure," featuring all five main characters in a dynamic, adventurous pose.
Full-Page Illustrations: Each page should include detailed illustrations that align with the story’s key moments. We will provide scene descriptions, but you’ll have creative freedom to interpret and design each visual.
Consistent Character Design: The characters must remain visually consistent throughout the book. We’ll provide initial design briefs for each character, but you will develop the final look and feel.
Back Cover: A simple back cover design that complements the front.
