My god daughter is 16 and is very lost.
She is a bit overwhelmed by her emotions and is being very heard on herself.
As I have tried to explain to be being someone who is empathetic, from the perspective of someone who is also very empathetic, At first feeling so much and be so in touch with our sense of self can be overwhelming because we are searching for meaning but feel like we are meaningless.
However the power of empathy is a gift, and is rare, and is a power not unlike the powers of the X-Men and like them she is yet to fully understand and harness the power of her gift.
I am trying to get her to understand it is a journey and that she will discover herself but she needs to be kind to herself and take time. By creating the following illustration I am hoping to create a powerful image for Charli to reference when she needs strength to remind her of the gift and power she holds. By creating a framed version for her room and also a version for her phone desktop. Being on her phone it can be an image that she can reference whenever she needs too to remind her like ALL of us she is a mutant, she is unique and different and special, and it’s okay to be a mutant and to feel like she doesn’t fit in and doesn’t know who she is. Because that’s exactly my story also and together we are emotion and warrior!
