Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
Freelance Artist Needed — One-Time Work-for-Hire Project
Project: Festival of Crowns tabletop card game
Compensation Model: Flat-fee freelance project
Rights: Full commercial buyout
Help Bring Festival of the Crown to Life
We're looking for a talented fantasy illustrator to help create the visual world of Festival of the
Crown, a fast-paced tabletop card game where players compete for gold, rise through the ranks
of a royal court, and vie for the Crown itself.
At its heart, Festival of the Crown is a celebration in a box, a lively gathering filled with shifting
fortunes, playful rivalries, and the magic of a kingdom coming together for its grandest event of
the year.
Players wear rank medallions, collect coins, and transform their table into a living royal court
where anyone can become the Ruler or the Fool.
The visual world draws inspiration from the magic, mischief, and elegance of A Midsummer
Night’s Dream: enchanted forests, moonlit revels, courtly beauty, and playful fantasy. The
overall palette should feel warm, rich, and inviting, with an emphasis on greens and deep blues.
This project is a strong fit for an artist who loves fairy-tale fantasy, classic literature, forest
settings, decorative design, and elegant game packaging. Experience with tabletop games, card
layouts, medallion/icon design, or print production is a plus.
Art Direction
The visual world draws inspiration from:
• A Midsummer Night's Dream
• Medieval festivals and courtly celebrations
• Enchanted forests
• Storybook fantasy
• Renaissance fairs
• Fair folk, moonlight, music, and mischief
The tone should feel:
- Whimsical
- Noble
- Magical
- Playful
Not dark fantasy or cartoon comedy.
The goal is to create artwork that feels timeless, elegant, and inviting for players of all ages.

Possible elements include:

Examples:
• Forest textures
• Castle stonework
• Decorative borders
• Hidden icons and visual Easter eggs
2. Card Design
Standard poker-size playing cards (fronts and backs)
• Two back designs
• Symmetrical and orientation-safe
• Decorative but highly readable
• Thematically tied to the Festival and enchanted forest
Number Cards

The design should:
• Prioritize readability during gameplay
• Feel elegant and premium
• Support quick recognition around the table
Special Cards

• Squire
• Seer
• Rat Catcher
• Butler
• Jester
These should feel cohesive with the rest of the game world and be designed to reproduce cleanly
at smaller sizes while still feeling distinctive and polished.
• Final delivery should include transparent PNGs and source vector files for resizing
Deliverables
• Final files sized to provided dielines and templates
• Layered source files (AI or PSD)
• High-resolution print PDFs
• Web-ready PNG/JPEG preview files
