Hieroglyphics Event Calligrapher Needed

Job ID: 40170778

Budget: £18 – £36 GBP

I’m organising a series of Egyptian-themed events in our Covent Garden bookshop over the Easter school holidays and I need a friendly expert who can turn guests’ names into authentic hieroglyphics on the spot. Your role is twofold: first, produce neat, accurate renditions of each visitor’s name; second, keep the conversation flowing so people learn a little about hieroglyphics and feel welcome to browse the rest of the shop.

Essential expertise
• Solid knowledge of Egyptian hieroglyphics—enough to transliterate modern names confidently.
• An outgoing manner; you’ll be chatting with families, school groups and travel enthusiasts throughout the day.

Core activities
• Write names in hieroglyphics on the medium we agree upon.
• Share light, engaging facts about hieroglyphics and, when it fits naturally, mention the wider range of maps and travel books we stock.

Materials
I’m happy to buy whatever you recommend, whether that’s calligraphy pens and quality card, parchment and ink, or another setup you prefer. Just let me know the list in advance and I’ll have everything ready.

Timing & logistics
The first session falls during the Easter break; exact dates and shift lengths will be finalised with you. Additional dates may follow if the first event proves popular.

Deliverables
1. Attendance in person for each agreed session.
2. Personalised hieroglyphic name cards for every guest who requests one.
3. A simple materials list submitted beforehand.

If you can bring hieroglyphics to life and enjoy lively customer interaction, I’d love to hear from you.
