SolidWorks Molding / Casting CAD/DFM Expert
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
We are looking for an experienced molding / casting DFM expert to review SolidWorks part designs and provide manufacturability feedback within a week.
The work will involve analyzing CAD models and identifying practical molding and casting issues across all process types — including injection molding, compression/transfer molding, blow molding, rotational molding, die casting, sand casting, and investment (lost-wax) casting — such as draft, wall thickness, ribs, bosses, undercuts, sink marks, porosity, shrinkage, warpage risk, parting line considerations, gating/runner/riser and ejection concerns, and general molded/cast part design quality.
This may include:
- Reviewing 3D part designs for molding and casting manufacturability
- Identifying DFM issues and explaining them clearly
- Suggesting practical design improvements
- Reviewing molded and cast part geometry for production readiness
- Helping define what makes a part well-designed for molding and casting
Ideal background:
- Strong experience with molding and casting processes and part design (plastic and metal)
- Familiarity with tooling/mold/die constraints and moldability/castability issues
- Ability to review CAD models and communicate feedback clearly
- Experience working with manufacturers, mold makers, foundries, or production teams is a plus
- SolidWorks expertise is required
