Understanding of DAC, ADC
Able to read and understand schematics, data sheets regarding microelectronic components
Knowledge of microcontrollers, Arduino etc.
Signal processing and filtering
In this signal processing and filtering is the most important skill
bonus points if familiar with signal analysis techniques spectroscopic chemistry
It is better if you are familiar with time, frequency, scale plots, etc.
