Outdoor Water Jet Accuracy Optimization
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I am refining a patent-pending device that projects a focused stream of water toward a target and must do so with exceptional accuracy in open, rural settings, resulting in a particular outcome to the target (disclosed once NDA in place). The initial CAD model is complete and an early prototype is under way, but I want a fluid-mechanics specialist to scrutinise and refine the nozzle geometry, pressure profile, and overall flow path so the jet lands exactly where it should while wasting as little water as possible.
Accuracy is the top priority; however, any gains in range or reductions in water volume that do not compromise hitting the mark are highly desirable. Because the unit will primarily have an outdoor use, your calculations and recommendations must explicitly account for shifting air currents as well as the broader mix of wind, temperature swings, humidity, and other real-world variables that influence jet behaviour.
You will receive the current CAD assembly and additional details once a mutual NDA is in place. I would then like you to:
• Run CFD simulations (ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or comparable) to characterise the jet under varying ambient conditions typical of rural landscapes.
• Propose geometric or operational tweaks—nozzle profile, pump pressure, tubing materials, valve timing, or flow-conditioning features—that tighten the shot pattern, extend useful range, or cut water consumption.
• Summarise findings in a concise report with visuals (velocity contours, stream breakup analysis, predicted dispersion at distance) and clear, quantified performance targets we can verify during the next prototype round.
• Practical useability in the invention design is important to me, I would like to dialogue regarding additional parameters that may be important for you to know.
I’m available for quick iterations, and I’m comfortable meeting on video to review intermediate results. If you have a solid track record in outdoor spray or jet optimisation and can translate simulation insight into practical design changes, I’d like to work with you right away. Thank you for your time.
