Modular Structure Design for Safe Transport -- 2
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
TASK OBJECTIVE:
The task is to design a structure that will enable the storage and safe transport of trusses and columns.
Main requirements:
1. Construction function:
o The structure must ensure stable storage and safe transport of parts such as trusses and columns.
2. Modular design:
o After removing the elements from the structure, it will be disassembled and transported by bus back to the company.
o The structure must be easy to assemble and disassemble, composed of modules that can be quickly packed and transported.
3. Maximum dimensions:
o Width: 2.2 m
o Height: 2.5 m
4. Transported parts:
o Trusses – we produce 4 types of trusses with a standard structure (drawings in the attachment).
o Columns (sample drawings in the attachment):
- Length: from 800 mm to 4500 mm.
- Sections: 80x80 mm, 100x100 mm, 120x120 mm.
5. Stabilization and protection of details:
o The structure must:
- Prevent parts from shifting during transport.
- Protect details against scratching and damage (e.g. rubber pads, spacers).
o Special attention should be paid to poles, which currently fall when the straps are unfastened, leading to damage.
6. Stability and handling:
o The structure must be stable both when empty and loaded.
o The rack must have points enabling loading and unloading using a forklift.
7. Space optimization:
o The design must allow for stacking during transport to optimise the use of cargo space.
Additional requirements:
• The shelf should be returnable (reusable).
• The structure must be durable and made of materials of appropriate strength.
Below are some pictures of the current solutions. The current approach is insufficient and has many drawbacks, such as:
• Lack of protection against scratching of trusses and columns.
• Load instability , which is why when the straps are unfastened, the poles often fall to the ground , causing damage.
• No stacking system , which limits loading and transport efficiency.
The new solution should eliminate these problems, providing stability, protection of parts and better functionality during loading and transport.
Project have to be made in SolidWorks 2021, we need 3d assembly *.sldasm, 3d files *.sldprt, 2d files *.PDF, *.dxf laser cutting files if necessary.
