Mechanical Design Engineer in Pakistan or India please
Budget: $250 – $750 CAD
What I have:
- I have a 50 ton shop press with a 7 inch piston travel.
- I have a stick welder
-I have a plasma cutter and table
-I have a 20 inch drill press
-Torch and forge to heat material to white hot
The job will be broken up into two parts, design and if feasible, build the jigs needed.
Task- To design two jigs to achieve the goal utilizing some/all equipment I have listed.
I have other equipment so ask if you need something not on the list, I may have it, and just forgotten to list it.
The first task is to design something to bend an ordinary piece of strapping as indicated in diagram A
It appears rather simple but so far I have distorted the 16mm hole. I have given thought to drilling the 16mm hole after bending the strapping but it defeats the speed of the plasma table. If that is the only solution then I would still need the ability to press the top down while bending both sides.
Task 2 is contained in Diagram B
The material is 3mm thick (1/8) it is pre-bent in a C like channel prior to needing the next jig
This unit needs the sides and top clamped while pressure is put on the end piece to bend it upward as shown
I am a hobbyist and am always trying to figure out the "next jig" to create. However I have found in these two tasks that holding and bending is far more complicated then just bending. I also have found that "stamping with speed and force" is far better than bending with slow pressure because it induces cracks in the metal.
So I would like the chosen Mechanical Engineer or Common Sense person to think outside the box. I am always amazed when watching Youtube videos how Pakistan/India people can bend something with the most uniquely designed stamping equipment, equipment parts that can be found in most North American junk yards.
I do not have the skill set to imagine a simple solution. I have too many other jobs that are ongoing and cannot dedicate the time to this orther-wise I could probably think of something but I know there are many many people smarter than I
