We are a technology company from the UK.

We understand that laser cutting machines are expensive so the costs for the provision of this will be handled by us and is separate from the rate for creation of the system and software.

The rate is fully negotiable.

Our materials are rectangular plastic pieces. These rectangular plastic samples have been produced in 12 different sizes. Their width varies from 0.8 to 2.5 cm and their length varies from 2 to 4 cm.

We have digitised images and we need to use a CO2 (40 Watt) laser cutting machine to cut or to engrave the image onto each rectangular plastic piece.

There are 2 main parts to this project:
1. A system/machine to select and transfer the desired rectangular plastic piece into the cutting field of the laser cutter. (No human input/intervention)
2. Creation of software that will be able to recognise the rectangular plastic piece (that has been transferred into the laser cutting field), allowing the laser cutting machine to perform the engraving/cutting required.

We would accept proposals to complete either part 1, or part 2 (as above). They do not need to be done in tandem.

We are therefore looking for an engineer or a company who can design a system to pick any desired size plastic piece from 12 different options in containers/boxes. Each box contains many of the same size of rectangular plastic piece. The system will automatically transfer the selected plastic piece into the cutting field of a laser cutting machine.

The CNC must be programmed to recognise precisely the axis and location of the loaded plastic piece and direct the laser cutter to cut or engrave this plastic piece. The recognition of the axis/location for each respective rectangular plastic piece allows the machine to cut many identical products accurately and precisely every time. It is important to note that each rectangular piece has different dimensions therefore when it is transferred into the cutting field, the laser cutter must be able to account for this variation to produce the required product. We propose an image analysis system which will be used to recognise the dimensions and the location of each rectangular plastic piece under the cutting field in order to cut/engrave it identically as many times as needed.
