Expandable Kids' Shoe Mechanism Engineer -- 2
Budget: ₹12,500 – ₹37,500 INR
Title: Mechanical Engineer Needed for Expandable Kids Shoe Mechanism (SolidWorks, Motion Study, DFM) — NDA Required
⸻
Project Overview
We are developing an expandable kids’ shoe using an internal mechanical system (sliders, rails, cams, detent mechanisms, locking systems, etc.).
We already have a clear mechanism direction + engineering brief, and we need an experienced mechanical engineer to turn it into a fully engineered, manufacturable, prototype-ready solution.
This is a precision mechanical project (not fashion/footwear design).
⸻
Work Scope
Mechanism Design
• Size-adjustment mechanism with smooth travel
• Locking / click positions
• Zero-play sliding tolerances
• Reliability + durability analysis
CAD Development
• Full SolidWorks assemblies
• Parametric modelling
• Exploded views
• BOM
Simulation
• Motion Study: displacement vs angle
• Contact-based movement
• Basic structural checks (FEA if needed)
Prototype Support
• STL + STEP optimized for 3D printing
• Material + tolerance recommendations
Final Documentation
• Full GD&T
• Assembly instructions
• Manufacturing notes
• Tolerance stack-up
⸻
Milestones (Strict)
Milestone 1 – Full Initial Deliverables (50%)
You will deliver:
• Complete functional mechanism (V1)
• SolidWorks motion study (displacement vs angle)
• CAD assembly with all moving parts
• Initial GD&T and tolerances
• BOM
• First DFM pass
• Review meeting
Payment released only after the mechanism proves functional in Motion Study and meets the brief.
⸻
Milestone 2 – Unlimited Minor Revisions Until Prototype-Ready + IP Transfer (50%)
You will deliver:
• All minor revisions until fully prototype-ready
• Final manufacturable mechanism
• Final SolidWorks/STEP/STL files
• Final DFM package
• Final GD&T drawings
• Final assembly instructions
• Production-ready output
• Full IP transfer
Payment released after successful delivery + signed IP transfer.
⸻
NDA Requirement
You MUST sign our NDA before receiving:
• Engineering brief
• Sketches
• Mechanism details
• Dimensional requirements
NDA will be provided immediately after shortlisting.
⸻
Intellectual Property Transfer (Mandatory)
Upon completion of Milestone 2 and full payment:
• All CAD files
• All drawings
• All mechanism concepts
• All revisions
• All documentation
become 100% our exclusive IP.
Freelancer cannot reuse, resell, or share any part of the work.
⸻
Termination Clause
We reserve the right to terminate the project if:
• There is repeated delay
• Communication drops
• Submission quality declines
• The engineer fails to follow the brief
Fair payment for completed work will be provided.
⸻
Revision Policy
• Unlimited minor revisions until prototype-ready
• 3 major revisions (if needed) — mutually defined
⸻
Timeline
Total project duration: 3 weeks
Daily or alternate-day updates required.
⸻
Future Collaboration
If this V1 is successful, we plan:
• V2 development
• Mechanism improvements
• Long-term engineering partnership
We prefer someone open to future collaborations.
⸻
Required Skills
• SolidWorks (mandatory)
• Motion Study
• Mechanism design (sliders, cams, detents)
• Plastic DFM
• GD&T
• Prototype-friendly engineering
⸻
How to Apply
Please answer these in your proposal:
1. Examples of mechanisms (sliders/cams/latches/detents) you designed and your role
2. Steps you follow for SolidWorks motion study (displacement vs angle)
3. FEA tools you use + example
4. GD&T approach for plastic mating parts
5. Can you commit to daily/alternate day updates?
6. Confirm NDA signing
7. Confirm IP transfer
8. Your fixed quote
