Custom Large Wooden Shed Build -- 2
Budget: $10 – $30 AUD
I’m planning to add a sizeable, fully-timbered storage shed to my property and need a professional who can take the project from concept to completion. The footprint will be larger than the typical garden shed, so sound structural planning, accurate load calculations, and quality joinery are essential.
What I’m after
• A custom design that makes the most of the available space and complies with local building codes. I don’t have a fixed style or roof material yet, so I’m open to your recommendations on modern vs. rustic lines and whether shingles, metal, or wood roofing best suits the build.
• Full drawings (CAD or similar) showing dimensions, elevations, foundation details, door/window placement, and a clear materials list.
• All construction: framing, cladding, roofing, doors, trim, weatherproofing, and interior finishing such as basic shelving or workbench space if feasible.
• A realistic timeline that covers permitting, site prep, build stages, and final walkthrough.
What will win the job
• Demonstrated experience erecting large wooden outbuildings—photos or portfolio links are a huge plus.
• Solid understanding of treated lumber, moisture barriers, and hardware suited to harsh weather.
• Clear communication on milestones, materials procurement, and any subcontracting (electrical, slab work, etc.).
Acceptance criteria
1. Approved plans that meet code.
2. Finished structure passes inspection, stands plumb and square, and is fully sealed against the elements.
3. Site left clean and safe.
