Balcony Railings – Typification, Modeling & Fabrication Drawings (CAD) -- 2
Budget: €250 – €750 EUR
PROJECT BRIEF – OUTER RAILINGS (BALCONIES)
Project
Modeling and fabrication documentation of outer railings for a residential project based on scan data and architectural drawings.
Total scope: 27 balconies across 3 buildings
Workflow
The work will be completed in three steps.
Step 1 – Typification
Create the base railing types based on the following architectural details:
• Detail E
• Detail G
• Detail “Terrace”
From these details, four railing types will be derived:
Detail Type Description
Detail E Type E1 double-sided railing
Detail E Type E-S single-sided railing (loggia)
Detail G Type G double-sided railing
Detail G Type G-2 single-sided railing (loggia)
Detail Terrace Type T double-sided railing
Deliverable of Step 1:
• 3D model of each type
• correct mounting logic
• correct geometry
• fabrication-ready concept
Result:
5 finished railing types
Step 2 – Review and Approval
The typification will then go through:
• 1 review round
• 1 feedback loop
The freelancer must adjust the models until the typification is approved.
After approval, the types become the reference models for the whole project.
Step 3 – Full Project Modeling
Once the typification is approved:
The freelancer will apply the types to all balconies.
Scope:
• 27 balconies
• geometry adjusted according to scan measurements
Deliverables:
• complete 3D models for all balconies
• types correctly adapted to each balcony
Fabrication Documentation
In addition to the models, the freelancer must create complete fabrication drawings.
For each balcony (27 total)
Provide:
• 1 general assembly drawing
• individual part drawings
• bill of materials (BOM)
The assembly drawing must clearly show:
• overall dimensions
• railing geometry
• mounting plates
• installation references
For each railing type (4 total)
Provide detailed fabrication drawings including:
• complete dimensions
• welding information
• material specifications
• connection details
• mounting plates
• tolerances relevant for steel fabrication
These drawings must contain all information required for fabrication in a steel workshop.
Project Management & Transparency
The freelancer must create a Google Sheet that serves as the Single Source of Truth for the project.
The sheet must include:
Sheet 1 – Project Workflow
Milestones and workflow structure including:
• milestones
• sub-steps for each milestone
• expected deliverables
• planned deadline (target)
• actual completion date
Example:
Milestone Step Deliverable Target Date Actual Date Status
Sheet 2 – Feedback & Issue Tracking
A second sheet will serve as the central feedback location for corrections.
Issues will be tracked by:
• detail
• balcony
• component
Status categories:
• Open
• Done
• Done + Approved
Example:
Location Component Issue Status Comment
Important Expectations
The freelancer should:
• propose a clear workflow
• maintain the project tracking sheet
• work independently based on scan data
• deliver models and drawings that are ready for fabrication
First Deliverable
Before starting the modeling work, the freelancer must provide:
1. a workflow plan
2. the Google Sheet structure
3. proposed milestones and deadlines
Once approved, the modeling work will start.
