Autodesk CFD Setup for Axial Fan Simulation (Reusable Template for Multiple Designs) -- 2

Job ID: 40342585

Budget: $30 – $250 AUD

Project Description

I am currently working on a Master’s thesis project focused on the aerodynamic performance of axial fans. The goal is to evaluate airflow performance (CFM) for multiple fan geometries using Autodesk CFD.

I already have several parametric fan designs created in CAD. What I need is help configuring one correct and reusable CFD simulation setup that I can later replicate for many fan designs.

The freelancer is not expected to run many simulations, but rather to build a robust simulation template that I can reuse by simply replacing the fan geometry.

Project Objective

The main objective of the simulation is to:

Evaluate and compare airflow performance (CFM) of axial fan designs.

The CFD setup should allow consistent comparison between multiple fan geometries.

Scope of Work

The freelancer will help configure a complete Autodesk CFD simulation setup including:

• Proper computational domain design (upstream and downstream distances)
• Correct rotating region setup for the fan
• Appropriate boundary conditions
• Suitable turbulence model for fan airflow
• Stable mesh configuration with refinement near blades
• A reliable method to measure volumetric flow rate (CFM)

The setup should be physically correct and numerically stable.

Important Requirement

The simulation must be designed so that I can:

• Replace the fan geometry
• Re-run the simulation
• Extract airflow results (CFM)

This template will be used for multiple fan designs in my research.

What I Will Provide

I will provide:

• The fan CAD geometry
• A rotating region cylinder around the fan
• The external domain geometry
• The target fan rotational speed (RPM)
