python/php/visualstudio - create/maintain various scripts
Budget: $2 – $8 USD
I am looking for a skilled freelancer who can create and maintain various scripts for me. The scripting languages used are Python and PHP. Python is used for the back-end scripts and PHP is used for any user interfaces.
Today, these scripts are the most pressing, but there will be more in the future:
1. Python script that scans new text files every 10 minutes, then scrapes data and: (a) adds some of the data to a SQL database and (b) sends alert emails to various team members based on which keywords are present.
2. PHP web interface to search/view the entries created from the previous script.
3. VisualStudio (VB, C#, whatever you prefer) program that logs into a remote telnet server and runs a short sequence of commands (i.e. to reset the print queue on a Linux server). The choice of VisualStudio here is just so the password for the remote telnet server can be a bit more secure than it would be in an open text Python script. This configuration will be a bit more complex, because we do not want end-users to have this VS program on their computers. The best approach here is to have an icon on user desktops that just triggers this VS program to run from a server. For example, we may have an end-user icon that just creates a blank text file on a server, then the VS program will check for the existence of this text file every minute and execute the telnet commands when the text file is present. Alternatively (and maybe preferred), can have the trigger handled by a web interface, and the VS program can check a URL every minute for commands.
We will have new feature requests and changes at least monthly for the foreseeable future, so we're looking for assistance on an hourly basis while we work through our to do list.
Ideal skills and experience for this job include:
- Proficiency in Python, PHP, and VisualStudio

- Experience in maintaining and updating scripts on a regular basis
