We are seeking an experienced Unity developer to enhance and optimize an existing casual action educational mobile game. This project involves revamping an outdated Unity project from 2021, which currently has disorganized project files and deprecated code. The primary goal is to modernize the project, improve gameplay mechanics, and prepare the game for future development phases. This is Phase 1 of a multi-phase project, with a total budget of $6,000-$6,500 and a completion timeline of 4 months.
The project will begin with an initial milestone focused on cleaning up the existing codebase and optimizing the project. This includes reviewing and repairing scripts, eliminating obsolete code, organizing project files for better manageability, and upgrading the project to the latest version of Unity. The final task in this milestone will be to compile and build a functional APK for testing purposes. This crucial step will lay the groundwork for the subsequent development phases.
Following the initial cleanup, the focus will shift to enhancing the main gameplay scene. The game is set on a single screen where four distinct levels will rotate as the player progresses. You will implement and refine a variety of enemies, including four basic enemy types, two elite enemies per level with special attacks, and one boss per level, each with unique abilities. Additionally, you will integrate four level-specific power-ups that players can collect and seven boosters available from the shop (note: shop interface development is not required). Players can equip up to three boosters during gameplay. Other features to be implemented include various dance moves, emotes, and four random events that occur at specific intervals. The game will also utilize the phone’s microphone and shake gestures for user interactions.
In addition to gameplay enhancements, you will work on developing the user interface (UI) for the character selection screen, the game over screen, and the gameplay HUD. These UI components are essential for creating an intuitive and engaging player experience. All assets for this project will be provided, either from the existing project or using placeholders; no new asset creation is required.
The project will be divided into five milestones. The first milestone focuses on the project cleanup and initial APK build.
