Cross-Platform Desktop Awake Utility
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I need a lightweight application that quietly runs in the background on Windows, macOS and Linux machines and keeps the desktop session active by periodically simulating key-press events. My priority is reliability rather than speed, so we can take the time needed to get the behaviour solid and native on all three operating systems.
Key behaviour
• Send unobtrusive, system-safe key events at a user-defined interval (default 60 s).
• Run from the system tray/menu bar with a simple start-pause-quit toggle.
• Remember settings between sessions and start automatically if the user chooses.
• Consume minimal CPU/RAM and leave no trace in application logs other than the normal process list.
Deliverables
1. Compiled executables for Windows (.exe), macOS (.app or notarised .dmg) and major Linux distros (.AppImage or .deb).
2. Clean, well-commented source code (Python, C#, Rust, Go or another cross-platform language—open to your recommendation).
3. A short README with build instructions and any runtime dependencies.
