Camera and lens calibration using Emgu (OpenCV) in C# application
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Hello friends,
First and foremost I ask you please to only contact me about this job if you are an experienced C# developer with experience with OpenCV/Emgu.
I would like to create a simple windows forms .NET C# application that will undistort an image from an ordinary camera and lens and flatten it *as shown in the "Calibrate Camera.jpg" image attached*.
This process is to allow me to take measurements out of the image manually later on.
That is why I need the application to be as accurate as it can. even if it means to calibrate the camera by moving it in an accurate manner to a few angles from the checkerboard so the calibration will be the most accurate. *as shown in the "Calibrate angels option 1.jpg" and "Calibrate angels option 2.jpg" images attached.
I am seeking to achieve a 0.01mm resolution after I scale the image to the correct scale after I photograh images in the size of about 30mm by 20mm or smaller.
I emphesize the accuracy matter because:
1. You have to know you are taking the best approach in calibrating the camera using OpenCV (Emgu) as there are a few different ways to achieve a few different things as I saw.
2. I do have to get to the best calibration and the highest resolution possible using OpenCV.
If you know another library that can do image calibration in C# only and you are experienced with it, let me know.
What I need eventually is C# windows forms app that will do these few simple things:
1. Show a video feed from a USB camera (will be a quality camera in the future in my case) that will allow for a way to calibrate the image (as all lenses have some distortion) and undistort the video feed after the calibration is completed.
2. Save the calibration data to a text file on the disk.
3. Have a button to "Reset calibration" reverting to the orignial unprocessed video feed.
4. Have a button to "Apply calibration" to switch back to the undistorted and processed video feed by reading the calibration text file and applying the calibration.
5. A button that will allow to take a snapshot and save an image of the current undistorted video feed to the disk with a warning message that will tell the user if a bollean flag like "isImageCalibrated" is false.
The checkboard should be very small as the objects I will photograph will be small as well, in the size of 20mm or less (one dollar quarter and smaller).
The checkerboard attached is of a small size (100mm by 70mm) so it will allow a camera to be positioned close to it and looking down on the table (as shown in the other images). PDF of the checkerboard in real size is attached here. print it in A4 without margins etc' and you should get the correct size.
Future developments are also possible with a skilled and communicative developer.
Thank you.
Ray.
