Building 'VR what We aRe' game
Budget: €1,500 – €3,000 EUR
A multi-stage project culminating in a sandbox multiplayer VR game called:
'VR what We aRe'
Set in a fictional time cluster comprised of elements from the 30's up to the 70's…
With a "Minecrafty" look and feel to reduce drawcalls etc.
Where players build up a virtual life for their character avatars whilst Abiding, Upholding or Breaking the law.
Death is permanent, so the ultimate goal; is to have your character survive and thrive in this world
aiming to be in one of the top three in their chosen field during the seasonal rankings.
Beginning with stage 1: the Prison.
A miniature instance of the 'VR what We aRe' world to serve as the game's free demo.
Other games have you respawn when you "go to jail"
In 'VR what We aRe'; your character will go to prison, where you'll either wait out your sentence or try to escape.
(In the demo: Players remain in an eternal loop as a prisoner or rewarded the option of becoming a guard after a succesful escape/release while an unknown party will perpetually attempt to have you killed)
Stage 1. Phase 1:
- A Prison complex and a playable character,
- A 10 minute Day/Night cycle following a Prison Schedule,
- Prisonguard sentries & patrols,
- Prisoners walking about
- Simple legal activities to kill time
Stage 1. Phase 2:
- Initiation of Attribute and Reputation system
- A (socket-based) inventory system
- The addition of illegal activities and items
- Prisonguards now detect and respond to illegal items found or openly carried (using raycast)
- Introduction of multiplayer
Stage 1. Phase 3:
- The Power Struggle system for Factions trying to dominate the prison market
- Faction jobs, missions and interferences introduced
- Implementation of scripted events; such as a Prison riot, Disease outbreak etc.
- The activation of Attribute and reputation control for the seasonal ranking system
- Prisoners now also detect and respond to events happening around them
