Agri Farm Data Platform Development
Budget: £10,000 – £20,000 GBP
Project Brief: Agri Farm Data MVP
Overview
We are seeking a skilled freelancer (or small team) to develop an MVP for our Data Analytics platform. This cloud-based system is designed to help broiler farmers improve efficiency, compliance, and sustainability. Our MVP will focus on CSV-based data ingestion, compliance reporting, and daily benchmarking of key farm metrics.
Scope of Work
Data Collection & Integration
Implement CSV upload (manual and scheduled retrieval) with robust validation (e.g., checking for mandatory headers, numeric fields, etc.).
Store validated data in a PostgreSQL database (with TimescaleDB extensions) and archive original CSV files in Azure Blob Storage.
Regulatory Compliance Reporting
Automate generation of Red Tractor–aligned reports.
Provide configurable templates that can be updated for evolving standards.
Benchmarking & Visualisation
Develop interactive dashboards for daily performance metrics (feed usage, mortality, etc.).
Enable multi-farm or multi-shed comparisons.
User-Friendly Interface
Create intuitive workflows for non-technical users (e.g., simple CSV upload screens, clear error messages).
Incorporate guided wizards or step-by-step instructions for first-time setup.
Ammonia Monitoring & Insights
Integrate ammonia readings in CSV uploads.
Include basic trend charts or threshold warnings if data suggests high ammonia levels.
Technology & Requirements
Tech Stack:
Frontend: Modern web framework Vue.js is preferred
Backend: C# preferred for most backend functions, though Python for certain data analytics would be valuable.
Database: PostgreSQL with TimescaleDB for time-series data.
Hosting: Microsoft Azure for all cloud services (VMs, Blob Storage, etc.).
Key Integrations:
Azure Blob Storage for file archiving.
Potential SFTP or shared-folder polling for automated CSV retrieval.
Security & Compliance:
Use HTTPS for all data transmission.
Ensure basic data protection aligned with GDPR best practices (though the MVP will not handle extensive personal data).
Deliverables
Working MVP deployed to an Azure environment (test or production instance).
Documentation covering:
System architecture (high-level).
Setup/deployment instructions.
Configuration guides for CSV mappings, reporting templates, etc.
Basic User Testing support, including addressing issues uncovered during an internal pilot phase.
Timeline
We aim for an 8–12 week development window, followed by an initial release to gain testing.
Budget
The budget is modest and partially grant-funded, so bids that demonstrate cost-effectiveness and clear milestones will be given preference.
What We Provide
Detailed SRS documents (functional and non-functional requirements).
Existing prototypes or wireframes for daily benchmarking and compliance dashboards.
Example CSV files for testing data ingestion and validation processes.
What We Expect
Regular updates on progress (e.g., daily standups).
Transparent issue tracking via GitHub, Jira, or another tool we agree upon.
Clean, maintainable code with an eye to future scalability.
How to Apply
Portfolio/Experience: Share examples of similar web or data-oriented projects you’ve worked on, especially on Azure.
Proposed Approach: Briefly outline your chosen tech stack and methodology (Agile, Scrum, etc.).
Timeline & Cost: Provide an estimated timeframe and total cost or hourly rate with an approximate range.
We look forward to collaborating with a passionate freelancer or team who can help us bring the our Data Platform MVP to life, empowering broiler farmers with the insights they need to optimise their operations and meet compliance standards.
