C# ASP.NET Azure App Code Review & Optimization

We require an experienced C# ASP.NET developer with strong expertise in Azure SQL Server to conduct a thorough code review of our web application. The primary goal of this project is to ensure the application is secure, performant, maintainable, and adheres to best practices in all layers, from data access to the ASP.NET Core implementation and Azure service utilization.
This project involves a detailed analysis across several key areas, and the successful freelancer will provide a structured report with findings, evidence, questions, and actionable recommendations.
Scope of Work:
The review will cover the following areas:
Data Access Layer (DAL) and Database Interaction Review:
Analyze the DAL for proper use of Entity Framework (EF) or ADO.NET, consistent implementation of parameterized queries or stored procedures, robust transaction management, secure handling of connection strings, comprehensive error handling, effective use of asynchronous operations, appropriate database indexing strategies, and thorough data validation practices.
ASP.NET Core Specifics Review:
Review the application's architecture and implementation concerning dependency injection, routing and API design principles, model validation techniques, security measures (authentication, authorization, protection against common web vulnerabilities), configuration management, logging practices, and overall performance considerations within the ASP.NET Core framework.
Code Quality and Maintainability Review:
Assess the codebase for adherence to coding style guidelines, identification and mitigation of code duplication, the presence and quality of unit tests, application of SOLID principles, code clarity and readability, and the adequacy of comments and documentation.
Azure Specifics Review:
Evaluate the application's interaction with Azure services, including Azure SQL Server performance (based on metrics and potential optimizations), App Service configuration (scaling, deployment settings), secure usage of Azure Key Vault for sensitive information, and effective utilization of Azure App Configuration for application settings.
Deliverables:
What has been done well: Highlighting existing strengths and best practices.
What can be done better: Identifying areas for improvement with specific code examples or configuration details as evidence.
What is not being done: Pointing out missing best practices or potential vulnerabilities.
Severity: A clear indication of the potential impact of each finding (High, Medium, Low).
Recommendation: Actionable steps to address the identified issues.
Required Skills:
Extensive experience with C# and the .NET framework (preferably .NET Core/ASP.NET Core).
Deep understanding of data access technologies, including Entity Framework and ADO.NET.
Strong knowledge of secure coding practices and common web vulnerabilities (e.g., SQL injection, XSS).
Experience with performance optimization techniques in both C# code and SQL queries.
Familiarity with SOLID principles and software design patterns.
Experience with unit testing frameworks (e.g., xUnit, NUnit) and code coverage analysis.
