Zephyr RTOS Customization for STM32F429NEH6
Budget: €250 – €750 EUR
Project: Zephyr RTOS Bring-Up for STM32F429NEH6 with DWM3000 UWB
We’re looking for an embedded systems expert to help us bring up **Zephyr RTOS** on our custom hardware featuring the **STM32F429NEH6** (UFBGA216), and to integrate the **Qorvo DWM3000 UWB module** over SPI.
---
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop a **custom Zephyr board definition** for our STM32F429NEH6-based hardware
- Configure **Device Tree**, **memory layout**, **clock tree**, **pinmuxing**, and **peripheral drivers**
- Enable and validate **UART**, **CAN**, and **SPI** interfaces using Zephyr’s HAL and APIs
- Integrate the **Qorvo DWM3000 SDK** (C-based) into Zephyr via SPI + IRQ with clean, modular abstractions
- Implement and deliver **three basic demo applications**, one for each peripheral:
- UART: echo or shell
- CAN: basic transmit/receive
- UWB: basic ping or ranging message using DWM3000
- Provide **clear documentation** for build, flashing, and project handover (e.g. README, build scripts, board overlay usage)
---
**Required Skills**
- Proven experience with **Zephyr RTOS**, including custom board bring-up and driver development
- Strong skills in **embedded C programming**
- Hands-on experience with **STM32 MCUs**, ideally the **STM32F4** family
- Deep understanding of Zephyr's **Device Tree**, **driver model**, **west**, **CMake**, and **Kconfig**
- Confident working with **low-level protocols**: UART, CAN, SPI, and IRQ handling
- Ability to write **clean, maintainable code** and well-structured documentation
---
**Nice to Have**
- Prior experience integrating **Qorvo UWB modules** (e.g. DWM3000 or DWM3001C)
- Familiarity with **Zephyr + UWB coexistence** (SPI driver layering, interrupts, time-critical scheduling)
- Knowledge of **BLE/UWB hybrid systems** using nRF52 (we use nRF52833 in a separate product)
---
**Development Environment**
- Custom PCB with **STM32F429NEH6** (UFBGA216)
- Qorvo **DWM3000 UWB** module (Qorvo SDK available)
- Production codebase written in C
- Git-based source control
- STM32CubeIDE and ST-Link debug access
- Build targets using **Zephyr 3.x+**
---
If you're experienced with Zephyr and embedded bring-up, and want to contribute to a real-world robotics + charging infrastructure project, we’d love to hear from you!
