Resolving an MPI bug in open-source CFD code
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
There is an an open-source fluid dynamics code on GitHub, which utilizes MPI for parallelization. However, I have encountered a bug when using MPI in combination with Sub Grids (Multi Block). when the Multi-Block functionality is activated, the communication sometimes gets lost.
The codebase is relatively short and well-structured, thanks to contributions from a software engineer. Each MPI routine is neatly organized into specific files, accompanied by extensive documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Debugging the MPI-based deadlock in the CFD code
- Implementing a fix to resolve the deadlock
- Ensuring the functionality and performance of the CFD code post-fix
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency with CFD codes, particularly open-source platforms
- Strong grasp of MPI (Message Passing Interface)
- Prior experience in debugging and resolving MPI-based deadlocks
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems and their nuances
- Good understanding of software development best practices
Please bid on this project if you have the necessary expertise to help me resolve this issue.
