The Task

Fixed price £135 Prototype demonstration.
This will be good value If you already know how to do this with existing Microchip example code.
Otherwise please dont bid. £135 is to build a minimal example to read/write to USB memory stick.

I require a software project developing to demonstrate reading and writing file data to a USB memory stick (Thumb drive using FAT32 file system) for a data logger development.

The project should use Microchip MPLABX IDE with xc16 compiler for the PIC24FJ128GB202 chip. The MCC code configurator should be used to allocate peripherals for the project, including two LEDs and a UART to communicate activity about the thumb drive.

The project should target the development board with schematic shown. The micro controller has host USB capability.

There are code examples from Microchip using the MLA (Microchip Libraries for Applications) but these don’t use the MCC code configurator.

The demo application you will build should:

1. Flash orange LED every second to show its running
2. Detect USB memory stick inserted. Set Blue LED when memory stick detected.
3. List information like volume label, file names present by printf to UART
4. Create a new file test.txt with content “hello world”
5. Close the file so Memory stick can be removed and checked on a laptop

The hardware for the development board uses

• RA0 to receive UART comms 19.2 Kbaud
• RA1 to transmit UART comms 19.2 Kbaud
• 12MHz crystal on pins 9, 10
• Orange LED on RA4
• Blue LED on RB5
• USB pins on 22, 21

Successful completion

I will compile the delivered project and program the development board. A memory stick will be inserted, LED status verified and UART output messages viewed. The memory stick will then be moved to another device to check for the test.txt file and contents.

Ideal Skills and Experience:

- Proficient in C programming for microcontrollers, specifically the PIC series.
- Experience with USB device development.
- Familiarity with FAT32 file system.

The ideal candidate should be able to follow the specific requirements and constraints given for the project. The ability to communicate clearly and work efficiently is also important.
