Nagios XI Specialist for Monitoring Solution

We are looking for an experienced Nagios/Nagios XI specialist to help us design and deploy a complete monitoring solution. Our environment includes a variety of IP-enabled devices—some support SNMP, others require alternative monitoring methods (NRPE, SSH, WMI, API checks, etc.).
Your role will be to fully configure Nagios XI, integrate all devices, and create reusable monitoring templates for future expansion.

Scope of Work
1. Nagios XI Installation & Configuration
• Install and configure Nagios XI on our server (Linux environment).
• Optimize performance for scalability and best practices.
• Configure users, permissions, host groups, notification settings, and dashboards.
2. Device Onboarding & Monitoring Setup
• Add and configure monitoring for a list of IP-enabled devices:
o Network devices (switches, routers, APs)
o Servers (Linux/Windows)
o Firewalls
o IoT / embedded devices
o Any SNMP-capable hardware
• Configure:
o Host checks
o Service checks
o SNMP v2/v3
o CPU / Memory / Disk / Hardware metrics
o Uptime / Reachability
o Custom checks if needed
3. Development of Monitoring Templates
• Create custom host & service templates for repeatable deployments.
• Include:
o SNMP device templates
o Linux/Windows server templates
o Network appliance templates
• Documentation on how to use templates for future device additions.
4. Custom Plugin Setup (If required)
• Add or develop scripts for special metrics.
• Configure NRPE/NCPA/SSH checks for systems without SNMP.
5. Knowledge Transfer
• Provide documentation or a short walkthrough on:
o Adding new devices using templates
o Managing Nagios XI checks
o Updating or troubleshooting monitoring

Required Skills
• Strong experience with Nagios XI (not just Core)
• Deep knowledge of:
o SNMP v2/v3 configuration
o NRPE, NCPA, or agent-based checks
o Network device monitoring
• Ability to create custom templates and service sets
• Experience with Linux server administration
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize Nagios performance
