Pi 5 Modular Control System

Job ID: 40447604

Budget: €30 – €250 EUR

Project Title:
Raspberry Pi Control System for Linak LA14 Linear Actuators + Extensive Sensor Integration (12V Tractor Battery)

Project Description:
I am looking for an experienced Embedded/Hardware Engineer to develop a scalable control solution based on a single Raspberry Pi 5.
The system must control and monitor up to 12 identical modules simultaneously. All components are powered by a 12V tractor battery. Therefore, voltage fluctuations, load peaks, EMC interference, and reverse polarity protection must be properly addressed.

One Module consists of:
Inputs per Module:
• 1× External PWM control signal from external (5–12 V, direction + speed)
• 1× Linak LA14 feedback (Motor-FB-SIG, FB-GND, FB-VCC)
• 1× Current measurement of the Linak
• 2× Elobau 424A00A120B angle sensors (0.5–4.5 V)
• 2× 12 V inductive proximity sensors (PNP/NPN)
• 1× 12 V control signal of a pneumatic valve (monitoring)

Outputs per Module:
• PWM control of the Linak LA14 (direction + speed) via H-bridge
• Control signal for the 12 V pneumatic valve (relay or direct)

Overall Requirements:
• 1× Raspberry Pi 5 controls and monitors up to 12 modules (12 Linak actuators, 24 Elobau sensors, 24 inductive sensors, etc.)
• Robust, noise-immune and scalable architecture (not everything wired directly to Pi GPIO)
• Preferred communication: I²C (with multiplexers/expanders) or RS485 / Modbus RTU for high noise immunity in a tractor environment

Deliverables:
1. Complete Bill of Materials (BOM) with specific product recommendations from Amazon.de (ADC modules, H-bridges, optocouplers, RS485 modules, voltage dividers, protection components, DC/DC converters, etc.)
2. Full schematic / wiring diagram (KiCad or clear PDF) including tractor battery power concept (fuses, overvoltage protection, reverse polarity protection, etc.)
3. Detailed wiring and mounting instructions (including Linak connector pinout)

Important Note:
This is a prototype project. Therefore, no custom PCB should be designed or manufactured. The solution must be built using standard, readily available off-the-shelf components (modules, breakout boards, etc.) that can be easily purchased from Amazon.de and similar shops.

Additional Notes:
• System must be reliable for outdoor / mobile use on a tractor
• Modular design preferred (easy to start with fewer modules and expand to 12)
• High emphasis on robustness, protection circuits and EMC suitability
