Firmware + Touchscreen UI Developer for Food Equipment Device (75% Complete)

Key Skills Required:
Embedded C/C++ (STM32, ESP32, or similar microcontrollers)

Node.js with UI framework (React, Vue, or Svelte)

Serial or MQTT communication between UI and firmware

UX/UI design for touchscreen appliances (minimal text, icon-focused)

Real-time control systems (motors, sensors, actuators)
We're using a Raspberry Pi CM4 environment.

It's 24 volt and has sensors including load cells, motors, Peltier units, and temperature sensors. Experience in these types of I/O would be interesting.

We are developing a compact tabletop food equipment device featuring a 10-inch touchscreen interface. The device guides users through operational processes, allows configuration of custom settings, and provides real-time feedback on system status.

Both the hardware and firmware are approximately 75% complete. We are looking for a single developer to take ownership of the remaining tasks and bring the product to production-readiness. This includes:

Finalising the embedded firmware (written in C for an STM32 or comparable platform)

Completing or improving the touchscreen interface (currently Node.js-based with a browser-style frontend)

Establishing and refining communication between the UI and firmware (via serial, MQTT, or custom protocols)

Delivering an intuitive UX with minimal on-screen text, clear iconography, and responsive real-time feedback (users interact with the screen from ~80cm away)

The ideal freelancer will:
Have strong hands-on experience with embedded C/C++ firmware development

Be confident building UI interfaces using Node.js with frameworks like React, Vue, or Svelte

Understand how to design for touchscreen UIs with large icons and simple navigation

Have experience integrating frontend systems with embedded devices using protocols like UART, serial-over-USB, or MQTT

Be comfortable working independently to finish and polish a nearly complete system

Additional Notes:
The current project is functional and partially integrated, but requires a skilled developer to finish both sides and deliver a refined, reliable experience.

You will work with our hardware/mechanical team for testing and feedback.
