ESP32 Time Announcer via Old Phone -- 2
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I'm looking for an ESP32 project that interacts with an old mobile phone to detect a pulse and announce the current time through the phone's ear piece.
What im trying to acheive is, i have and old phone, i want to remove the internals but keep the wires for the pulse dialer. and the handset down / up.
I would like to wire the 2 pulse wires to gpio pins, then the earpiece to the esp32 aswell.
So pick up the headset and it turns on the esp instantly, then i dial the talking clock number 1994 , it then says the current time and date on the earpiece speaker.
I have references to voices, the original australian talking clock etc.
Key features - I have attached the wiring diagram which i think should work.
Key features"
1 - I pick up phone and hear a dial tone, i dial 1194 and it then says the time and date.
2 - I can send a command from my pc through wifi so the phone rings, when they pick up it says Hi, Have a great day mate
3 - I can send a command from my pc through wifi so the phone rings, when they pick up it says " Congratulations you have won a $10 gift card! Come to the bar to collect"
The dialer works as a circuit and pulses, so when i dial 1 it does 1 circuit closed (1 pulse) when i do 9 it does 9 pulses.
The pulses are around 10 pulses a second. and would take the person about 4 seconds to dial the next number.
There will be no other numbers working, only the 1194.
There is a microswitch on the handset which activates when picked up, this will stop the ringing or enable the dial tone noise,
When the command to rind is sent it then sends signal to the relay for 2 seconds then pause 1 second, 2 seconds until the microswitch is activated and it disables the ringing and plays the text to voice for either the command 1 or command 2 from my pc.
If you setup the wifi straight away with an assigned ip, then i can setup the firewall so you can remote access and you can test things with me here live .
Key Requirements:
- The old phone will be used to trigger the time announcements based on pulse detection.
- The time should be announced using text-to-speech conversion.
- All time announcements should be in English.
Ideal Skills:
- Proficiency in working with ESP32 modules.
- Experience with interfacing with mobile phones, particularly old models.
- Knowledge in implementing text-to-speech conversion.
- Programming skills for pulse detection and time calculation.
This project involves hardware and software integration, so experience in both areas is beneficial. Please provide examples of similar projects you've completed.
