DOS BBS (Bulletin Board System) Program Upgrade and Porting

Job ID: 39140144

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I have a 16-bit DOS program (ProBoard BBS - www.proboardbbs.com) written in Borland C++ 3.1 that requires two critical updates.

1) The addition of MSGID, REPLYID, and TZINFO to the fidonet JAM message base header kludge in accordance with the FTSC standard. This task is of high priority.

2) Porting the existing source code to a more modern platform, preferably Visual Studio 2022. The aim is to make the software compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows systems, MacOS, Linux, and Raspberry Pi. The top priority for the target platforms is Windows.

The software currently includes some Assembly routines, and it also features serial communications. While I don't require SSH support at this stage, I do want to add Telnet access via a Telnet server. This transition from serial communications is moderately important.

Key skills and experience ideal for this project include:
- Proficiency in C++ and familiarity with Borland C++ 3.1
- Experience in software porting, preferably to Visual Studio 2022
- Knowledge of Assembly language
- Understanding of the FTSC standard
- Ability to implement Telnet support

Please note that the addition of the specified message base header components is of high priority.
