Job ID: 39658892

Budget: $10 – $80 USD

I am seeking an experienced developer to create a custom embedded Linux setup for an in-vehicle digital dashboard using an Orange Pi 5 Plus 4GB (Rockchip RK3588). The primary application, RealDash, should run in full-screen mode on boot without any desktop environment. Critical functionalities include support for CAN bus (SocketCAN), touchscreen, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, USB GPS, and HDMI display.

Key Requirements:
-Buildroot-based Linux system for Orange Pi 5 Plus, outputting directly to HDMI using framebuffer (no X11/Wayland).
-RealDash binary (ARM64 .deb) included and auto-launched at boot.
-Touchscreen support (provide compatible drivers).
-Wi-Fi + Bluetooth support for Intel Wireless-AC 7265 (M.2 module).
-USB GPS support.
-SocketCAN support for connecting to CAN interface (e.g., USB-CAN adapter or MCP2515).
-SSH access via Dropbear or OpenSSH.
-UART serial console enabled for boot debugging.
-NVMe boot support
-HDMI output configured at 1920x720@60Hz.
-Auto-login as root (no password) and RealDash auto-launch.
-Provide a clear README and image flashing instructions (including how to update image, add files, recover console).

Deliverables Expected:
-Buildroot project folder (.config, custom defconfigs, patches, RealDash install method)
-Flashable sdcard.img or instructions to boot from NVMe
-RealDash running from boot
-SSH enabled and usable
-UART serial console working
-Documentation / README

Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in embedded Linux development, particularly with Buildroot
- Experience with Orange Pi or similar ARM-based systems
- Knowledge of CAN bus (SocketCAN) integration
- Familiarity with touchscreen, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, and GPS module support
- Ability to optimize boot times and system performance
- Strong skills in debugging and remote system access setup

If you have the expertise to bring this project to life, I would love to hear from you!
