Job Title: Lead Application Designer – Milken-Motsepe AI & Manufacturing Prize (WASTELINK Project)
Project: Development and submission of a compelling application for the Milken-Motsepe Prize in AI & Manufacturing, centered on the WASTELINK solution — mobile AI-powered briquette production systems for off-grid Sub-Saharan African communities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Review and align the project concept with the Milken-Motsepe Prize application framework
2. Draft all required application documents (Problem, Solution, AI/ML Strategy, Prototype Plan, Business Case, Team Info)
3. Design infographics and diagrams for system architecture and community use
4. Assist in pitch deck and video script (if required by Phase 1 or Phase 2)
5. Proofread and finalize all texts within word/character limits
6. Coordinate submission timeline and version control
7. Provide post-submission support for feedback response
Deliverables:
• Full application draft (text, visuals, budget, prototype outline)
• One-pager or executive summary
• Conceptual diagrams of system design
• Feasibility and scalability matrix
• Team CVs and bios formatted to requirements
Duration: 1 week (Phase 1 application), with option for Phase 2 continuity (Budget for Phase two 2,000$)
Budget phase 1: 100$
Required Expertise:
•Proven track record in innovation prize applications
•Familiarity with Milken-Motsepe or XPrize-type grants
•Strong knowledge of AI, hardware systems, and African development contexts
•Excellent writing and visualization skills
