Strategic Partner for Gaming Platform Building
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
Strategic Business Plan, Monetization, Financial Model & Execution Roadmap
1. Overview
We are building a high-potential platform in the gaming and esports ecosystem, designed to become the identity and reputation layer for players, teams, and stakeholders.
The platform will combine:
Player profiles and verified identity
Activity feeds demonstrating skill and performance
Tournament discovery and participation
Services connecting players, teams, recruiters, organizers, and publishers
The long-term vision is to build a scalable, defensible, venture-scale company, not a small project.
We are seeking a high-level freelance strategist to act as a temporary strategic partner to help define the company’s direction, business model, and execution plan.
2. Objective
The objective of this engagement is not just to produce a business plan, but to:
Define a clear and differentiated strategy
Establish a scalable business and monetization model
Build a financial model grounded in real assumptions
Create a practical execution roadmap
Provide decision frameworks that guide the founder beyond this engagement
3. Scope of Work
A. Strategic Foundation
Define and prioritize target customer segments
Articulate the core problem and value proposition
Develop clear positioning and differentiation
Identify explicit trade-offs (what we will NOT do)
Define the “how we win” strategy and long-term vision
B. Product & Platform Strategy
Define MVP scope (what to build now vs later)
Feature prioritization with strategic reasoning
Platform evolution over time
Multi-sided ecosystem design (players, teams, organizers, etc.)
Network effects and defensibility mechanisms
C. Growth & Go-To-Market Strategy
0 → 1 traction strategy
Initial wedge selection and rationale
Acquisition loops (not just channels)
Retention and engagement systems
Community and virality strategy
Strategic partnerships approach
D. Monetization Strategy (Critical)
The freelancer must design a clear, staged monetization system aligned with platform growth.
This includes:
Monetization Architecture
Revenue streams across all stakeholders (players, teams, recruiters, organizers, publishers)
Who pays, for what, and why
Primary vs secondary revenue drivers
Phased Monetization Plan
Phase 1 (early traction): what remains free and why
Phase 2 (growth): initial monetization layers
Phase 3 (scale): full revenue engine and expansion
Pricing Strategy
Pricing models (subscription, SaaS, marketplace, etc.)
Tiering (free vs premium vs enterprise)
Willingness-to-pay assumptions
Unit Economics
CAC, LTV, margins, payback periods
Revenue scalability logic
Revenue Engine Design
How revenue scales with user growth
Marketplace dynamics (if applicable)
Liquidity and supply-demand balance
Risks & Trade-offs
Monetization risks that could harm growth
Strategic decisions on when NOT to monetize
E. Financial Model
3–5 year financial projections
Revenue assumptions directly tied to strategy
Cost structure aligned with a lean startup
Scenario analysis (base, aggressive, conservative)
Sensitivity analysis (key drivers of success/failure)
Cash flow and capital requirements
F. Execution Roadmap (Highly Important)
0–30 day execution plan
30–90 day traction roadmap
6–12 month scaling roadmap
Key milestones and decision checkpoints
G. Founder Decision Frameworks
Key KPIs for each stage of the company
Weekly metrics to track
Decision rules (pivot, double down, or stop)
Clear indicators of success vs failure
H. Investor-Ready Outputs
Full business plan document
Executive summary (2–3 pages)
Optional: pitch deck support
4. Deliverables
The engagement must result in:
A clear and opinionated company strategy
A structured and dynamic financial model
A practical execution roadmap
A well-defined monetization system
Investor-ready documentation
Important:
The engagement is not considered complete unless the outputs can directly guide real execution and decision-making.
5. Collaboration Model
Weekly working sessions (mandatory)
Iterative development (no one-time delivery)
Direct collaboration with the founder
Open discussion, feedback, and strategic debate
6. Timeline
Estimated duration: 3–6 weeks
Flexible based on scope and depth
8. Ideal Candidate
Experience working with startups or building companies
Strong strategic thinking (not just documentation skills)
Proven financial modeling expertise
Experience with platforms, marketplaces, or gaming/esports is a strong plus
Ability to simplify complex problems into clear decisions
Comfortable acting as a thought partner, not just an executor
9. Proposal Requirements
Applicants should include:
Relevant past work (business plans, financial models, strategy projects)
Approach to this project
Timeline and working style
Pricing structure
Response to the following question:
“If this becomes a $100M company, what is the core driver behind its success?”
10. Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on:
Depth of strategic thinking
Clarity and structure of approach
Financial modeling capability
Relevant experience
Ability to act as a true partner in building the company
11. Key Expectation
This role is closer to a temporary strategic co-founder than a traditional freelancer.
We are not looking for:
Generic templates
Surface-level research
Passive execution
We are looking for:
Clear thinking
Strong opinions backed by logic
Actionable strategy
A partner who can challenge assumptions and improve decisions
12. Confidentiality
All shared information and materials must be treated as strictly confidential.
