Intellectual Property Consultant for Building Sets
Budget: ₹750 – ₹1,250 INR
I’m exploring a product line of boxed building sets. The plastic bricks themselves will be generic / compatible pieces sourced from third-party manufacturers (not custom bricks or unique mechanical parts). My work will focus on designing full sets (models), instructions, packaging, and branding. I need a freelancer / consultant who can help build and protect the IP around these design elements, instructions, brand, packaging, art etc.
Responsibilities:
* Review my product model designs, packaging mock-ups, instruction manuals, and branding, and identify what IP (design registration, copyrights, trademarks) can be protected in India.
* Conduct searches / audits: trademark searches, design registration searches, any prior art or prior design conflicts in packaging / set design.
* Advise on strategy: which IP filings should be done first, what is likely to get approved vs what might be rejected.
* Draft or assist in filing: trademarks for brand name / logo; registered designs for packaging / ornamental parts of the set (if any); copyright protocols for instructions / artwork; help set up confidentiality (trade secret) agreements for design files, suppliers.
* Estimate cost, timelines, and risks.
Required Skills / Experience:
* Strong knowledge of Indian IP law: designs, trademarks, copyrights.
* Experience with product packaging / toy design or building set / boxed set products is a plus.
* Proven track record of conducting trade mark & design registration filings, searches, handling objections if any.
* Ability to explain what is protectable vs what is not; experience advising clients with similar business models (selling boxed sets using generic components).
* Good communication, ability to work remotely, able to share examples of past work.
Deliverables:
* Report identifying all possible IP protections (trademark, design, copyright) for my business model.
* List of registered designs / trademarks in India that might conflict or pose issues.
* Draft filings: at least a trademark application (brand name & logo), and a design registration or advice on what design(s) to register.
* Template for an NDA / confidentiality agreement for design files / packaging design.
