Discussion question 3
Considering concepts learnt from Module 3, and the information presented in the case study, critically discuss what it takes to effectively manage and lead groups and teams in multicultural contexts. If you were appointed the new CEO of Nomura, what changes would you implement to ensure effective leadership and management of such a multi-cultural enterprise? Apply theories to practice and justify your decisions. You may include additional research to support your ideas. Referencing and citations will be required for the sources you use.
Things to consider in your response include:
- What is effective leadership? (One-sentence definition)
- Hofstede’s National framework of culture in relation to selecting an effective leadership approach/style.
- Provide at least two exemplified recommendations of managing and leading in a multicultural context to improve Nomura’s organisational performance.
- Recommendations from part c should include discussions of managing these new changes (including the change process, the possibility of resistance and/or suggesting solutions)
