3000 word report to describe and analyse the operations functions that firms utilize in the production of goods or/and services, and identify the issues existing in the business operations, providing suggestion on further improvements on operation aspects covered within the module. This should cover all the four learning outcomes as expressed in the marking criteria.

Select an organization of your choice. The organization of your choice should be from the manufacturing industry (including all kinds of clothing, shoes, accessories etc.), your task is to undertake an analysis of the company’s operations functions using published sources such as journal articles, textbooks, newspaper entries and the internet. The requirement is to research and report the operational and performance status of your chosen organization and considers the operation functions like operations strategy e.g., MTS, MTO, ATO etc.; procurement strategy, competitive advantage e.g., cost, speed, quality, flexibility, and sustainability; inventory management, downstream supply chain management and balance scorecard that depicts key performance indicators. Moreover, the report must consider all learning outcomes. Describe the relevance and interconnectivity of operations functions across business in a real industrial context and able to map out of the supply network for businesses.
Recognise the key performance indicators for business operations measurement and improvement. Discuss issues in specific industrial contexts and formulate and communicate the solution and recommendation for business operations optimisation. The structure of the report should include a brief introduction, main body (the 6 topics), conclusion, and reference list. 1. Competitive advantage, environmental concern (sustainability).
2. Operations strategy (Includes MTO, MTS or ATO).
3. Product development strategy (Design), supply chain collaboration, new product development.
4. Product-process strategy, process life cycle stages.
5. Business process reengineering and/ or balance scorecard.
6. Facility decisions, capacity decisions and/ or sales and operations planning.
