Budget: $250 – $750 NZD
As a Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) navigating the global market, I need expert advice on various aspects of international business operations.
Key areas of focus include:
- Tax Registration: Guidance on how to efficiently register for tax in different countries.
- Currency Management: Strategies to manage currency exchange and fluctuations.
- Compliance: Ensuring that all operations are in line with local and international laws.
- Importing and Duties: Assistance with understanding and managing import taxes and duties.
- Global Logistics: Tips on how to streamline global shipping and logistics.

The ideal freelancer for this project should have extensive experience dealing with SMEs and a strong background in international business compliance and tax strategy. Understanding of global logistics and currency management is also highly beneficial.
Badges & Medals (B&M), a supplier of custom-made medals, coins, and badges to sporting organizations and mass participation events, is looking to expand its market reach from Australasia to a global scale. B&M is looking to firstly move into USA, UK, UAE, and Argentina. We have offices in New Zealand and Australia and a remote team working from Argentina, Russia, the Philippines, Greece, Australia, and New Zealand.
As the Operations Manager, I have conducted research and developed a proposal on how we can achieve this expansion without setting up new companies in other countries. Our suppliers are based in China, and I believe the following strategy will be effective:
1. Utilize a 3PL Company in China: Since our suppliers are based in China, we will use a third-party logistics (3PL) provider in China (SINO Shipping) to handle freight and swap documents to B&M documents. The 3PL will also be our final QC point.
2. Direct Global Shipping (B2B and B2C) via DDP Freight Service: Goods will be shipped directly to buyers globally using a Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) freight service.
3. Tax and Import Duties: We will manage tax and import duties through tax registrations in each country, utilizing Avalara to simplify the process. This will also mean we can on charge taxes and duties.
4. Currency and Payments: Customer payments will be collected in their national currency using Airwallex, ensuring smooth transactions.
What We Need:
We are looking for freelancers with experience in global logistics, international trade, tax compliance, and e-commerce to:
• Review the proposed strategy.
• Challenge the assumptions and identify potential risks.
• Suggest improvements or alternative approaches that could be more efficient or cost-effective.
• Advise on best practices for tax registration, currency management, and compliance in various countries.
