Product-Specific Category Analysis
Position Overview
We are hiring two Product-Specific Market Research Interns to conduct deep-dive analysis of individual products across diverse categories. You will focus on granular product-level competitive intelligence, market validation, and consumer trend research for startup product development initiatives in India.
Duration: 3 months (immediate)
Location: Gurugram, Haryana (Remote/On-site hybrid)
Compensation: ₹12,000-20,000/month based on experience
Reports to: Head of Business Development/Product Strategy

Key Responsibilities
Product-Level Competitive Analysis
• Research specific SKUs and products across categories
• Analyze product listings on Amazon, Myntra, Blinkit, and other e-commerce platforms
• Track product-specific metrics: add-to-cart rates, bestseller rankings, customer review sentiment, repeat purchase patterns
• Conduct product teardowns comparing features, materials, pricing, and packaging across competitors
E-Commerce Funnel Analysis
• Measure category-specific conversion funnels (visits → cart → checkout → payment)
• Analyze product-level cart abandonment rates and checkout friction points
• Identify pricing sweet spots and promotional strategies by product category
• Track delivery times, payment methods, and customer satisfaction metrics
Market Research & Product Validation
• Conduct consumer pain point analysis through review mining and sentiment scoring
• Design and distribute targeted surveys for specific product categories
• Identify market gaps and white spaces within saturated categories
• Create DIY product validation reports with consumer feedback synthesis
Competitive Intelligence & Positioning
• Build product comparison matrices with specs, pricing, and differentiators
• Monitor competitor product launches, updates, and feature additions
• Analyze market entry strategies for new SKUs in each category
• Track seasonal trends and demand fluctuations by product type
Documentation & Reporting
• Prepare comprehensive product market research reports with data visualizations
• Create competitive benchmarking tables and feature comparison charts
• Develop executive summaries with market opportunity assessments
• Present category and product-specific findings to stakeholder teams
• Maintain organized databases of product analysis and market intelligence

Ideal Candidate Profile
Must-Haves
• Currently pursuing or recently completed Bachelor's/Master's in Business, Economics, Commerce, Marketing, or related field
• Strong analytical mindset with meticulous attention to product details
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data visualization)
• Excellent written communication for professional report creation
• Comfort with e-commerce platforms and ability to reverse-engineer product listings
• Curiosity about consumer goods, DIY products, and Indian retail ecosystems
Nice-to-Haves
• Prior experience analyzing specific e-commerce products or categories
• Familiarity with review analysis tools or sentiment analysis methodologies
• Experience with Google Shopping trends, SimilarWeb, or similar analytics platforms
• Basic data visualization skills (Google Data Studio, Canva, PowerPoint)
• Exposure to startup product development or D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) models
• Interest in home organization, beauty, kids' products, or art categories
