Part-Time Contract Event Manager Needed
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
Title:
Contract Event Manager (Financial Services Conferences) — Part-Time, Aug–Dec
Overview:
The Structured Finance Association (SFA) is seeking a contract event professional to support our conferences team during a parental leave period. This role will focus on execution support for our RMBS Symposium (September, Washington, DC), Women in Securitization (WiS), and ongoing planning for SFVegas, our flagship industry conference.
This is a part-time, remote role with variable hours: approximately 10 hours/week in August and 20 hours/week from September through December.
Scope of Work:
Support planning and execution of the RMBS Symposium (Washington, DC, September)
Support execution of Women in Securitization (WiS) events and programming (virtual and in-person), including coordination, logistics, and stakeholder communication
Assist with sponsor coordination and fulfillment (deliverables, logistics, tracking)
Manage speaker coordination (outreach, confirmations, materials collection)
Support agenda development and run-of-show documents
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors (venue, production, etc.)
Provide project management support for SFVegas (February 2027), including timelines, task tracking, and logistics
Qualifications:
5–10+ years of experience supporting professional conferences or corporate events (financial services experience strongly preferred)
Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
Detail-oriented with a bias toward execution and follow-through
Experience working with sponsors and senior-level speakers
Comfortable working independently within a small, high-performing team
Experience supporting multi-event programs or event series (e.g., regional events, member programs, or affinity group programming) preferred
Based in the U.S.; East Coast preferred
Engagement Details:
August: ~10 hours/week
September–December: ~20 hours/week
Reports to SFA’s VP of Events
Remote, with potential on-site support in Washington, DC (September)
Additional Notes:
This role requires someone who can step in quickly, operate with minimal oversight, and maintain a high standard of execution across multiple concurrent priorities.
Screening question: “Describe a conference you’ve supported with 300+ attendees — what were you personally responsible for, and what would you do differently next time?”
Hard filter: Require prior experience with sponsor-heavy events
