Mining geologist to review existing projects owned by miners - must be commercially-minded

Mining Geologist with International Experience required for reviewing global mining projects
Skills and Experience:
- Experienced mining geologist with a strong background in base (including lithium) and precious metal mining
- Proven track record in reviewing and evaluating large mining projects
- Familiarity with the assets owned by the supermajors and regional mining champions across Canada, Latin America, Australia, Europe and Africa
- Extensive knowledge of international mining regulations and practices
- Ability to assess project feasibility, resource estimation, and economic viability
- Ability to develop commercial ideas around portfolio of the different supermajors ie. which mining projects are best suited for the different producers (and why)
- Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate findings and recommendations
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough reviews and evaluations of the individual projects of the major mining companies (BHP, Rio Tinto, Anglo, Glencore, Fortescue, Vale, Barrick, Newmont etc plus regional champions in Canada and AUS) by major products (copper, nickel, gold, PGMs, lithium) across key global geographies
- Assess characteristics of the major projects to identify portfolio acquisition or sale opportunities e.g. sale of short life miners or high cost of production mines or identify mines that have significant developmental capex that could lend itself to a specific partner due to other assets such a partner owns in close proximity, experience in the region etc
- Identify potential risks and challenges with major development or operating mining projects within the individual company portfolio
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations
This would be an interactive exercise so keen to find someone that sees the vision and has experience of similar studies
Note: Only candidates with relevant international experience and a proven track record in reviewing Copper mining projects will be considered.
