Data Design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I am required to a project with 1000 words. Choosing a case study that You are encouraged to relate this assignment to your workplace, so that
the outcomes can immediately be applied to improving its big data infrastructure. However, if
you have no immediate workplace to analyse or its use for the assignment purposes is not
possible, then you have an option of adopting another project (such as a commercial startup, community project or social enterprise) which would take advantage of data analytics.
Either an existing or prospective project can be discussed. In the latter case, the data
infrastructure might not exist yet, however, you have an opportunity to propose its design and
analyse it for any potential gaps.
Task 1.1 Business question
In a brief statement, introduce your chosen case study. In your response, include the
following.
• Its key products or services, market(s) of presence and major issues or challenges it
has to deal with at the moment.
• A specific business question, which can be addressed by the application of data
analytics, and its expected impact on solving the above defined issues or challenges.
• Business data, logic and knowledge artefacts which should be involved in addressing
this question. (300 words)
Task 1.2 Analysis of data collection instruments
Design and analyse specific data collection instruments for the acquisition of datasets which
would be used in solving the business question stated in Task 1.1. You are required to
identify two or more separate data collection instruments complementing each other
in the process of data acquisition. Either the automated or designed instruments, or
a combination of both, can be employed in this data acquisition. As a result, your
data model should incorporate two or more different datasets. In your response,
include the following.
• Proposal of two or more data collection instruments.
• Critical evaluation of these instruments, justifying their relevance and effectiveness
for addressing the business question stated in Task 1.1.
• Potential limitations and issues associated with the proposed approach to data
acquisition. (700 words)
