Structural Engineer to approve the job
Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
We have removed an external wall and installed a steel beam as per the structural design
The joists are running parallel to the steel beam, there is only one joist, that supports the stairs, has to sit on the steel beam.
We had to slightly reduce the depth of the joist at its end, so as to fit with the size of the steel beam’s web and sit on the steel beam. The stairs are also supported by an existing RC lintel. See the photo.
The building inspector wanted us to double check this with a Structural Engineer and get approval.
